This is a great way to use up a good chunk of sourdough starter! They are a very brownie-like scone, the perfect midday dessert to have with tea.
Ingredients:
- 490g flour
- 54g cocoa powder
- 200g granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 170g butter (room temperature)
- 224g buttermilk
- 200-240g discard sourdough starter
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp vanilla
- 340g chocolate chips
Directions:
- Mix your dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon & salt) together in a large bowl.
- Cut your room-temperature butter into the dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, mix all of your wet ingredients (buttermilk, sourdough starter, eggs & vanilla).
- Add your wet ingredients to your dry but do not over-mix!
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto 2 lined baking sheets and bake at 375 for 18 minutes.
