Sam & Terry's Chocolate Sourdough Scones

 


This is a great way to use up a good chunk of sourdough starter! They are a very brownie-like scone, the perfect midday dessert to have with tea.

Ingredients:

  • 490g flour
  • 54g cocoa powder
  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 170g butter (room temperature)
  • 224g buttermilk
  • 200-240g discard sourdough starter
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tsp vanilla
  • 340g chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Mix your dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon & salt) together in a large bowl.
  2. Cut your room-temperature butter into the dry ingredients.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix all of your wet ingredients (buttermilk, sourdough starter, eggs & vanilla). 
  4. Add your wet ingredients to your dry but do not over-mix!
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto 2 lined baking sheets and bake at 375 for 18 minutes.
